Beverley Allen, MD presently works as a child and adolescent psychiatrist
for Group Health Permanente in Spokane, Washington after working in a variety of settings including private practice, juvenile
detention centers, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, and community mental health centers. Dr. Allen graduated
cum laude from Amherst College in Amherst Mass with a BA in Black Studies. She attended medical school
at University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland, and then completed a pediatric internship at Medical
College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia. She returned to University Hospital/Sheppard Pratt Hospital
for psychiatric residency and child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship.
In addition
to working as a child and adolescent psychiatrist Dr. Allen is active in her agricultural community and has used the information
learned to raise fiber producing animals to explore environmental influences such as micronutrients on human psychiatric health
and has incorporated some of this information into her psychiatric practice. She believes that learning
never ends.
