Trustee, Region II (South)

Dr. Mattox currently serves as Chairperson of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Morehouse School of Medicine and holds the rank of Professor of ClMattoxGail.JPGinical Psychiatry at Morehouse School of Medicine. She joined the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences in 1989.


Dr. Mattox received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, Illinois and her Medical Doctor Degree with honors from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee.  She completed a Pediatric Residency at Meharry followed by General Psychiatry Residency and a Child Psychiatry Fellowship at Northwestern University School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois.


Dr. Mattox is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology with additional sub-specialty Board Certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Career interests include administrative and community psychiatry.
